The
Health Information Management Association of Australia is pleased to invite you to attend
the 24th HIMAA Conference to be held at Darling Harbour in Sydney, Australia from 8-10
August 2003. The conference is the major annual professional development event for Health Information Managers and colleagues. HIMAA 2003 "Building Bridges" provides a wonderful opportunity for Health Information Managers to attend a National Conference and to meet colleagues from around Australia and overseas. The Conference will enable all of us to expand our horizons and discuss our theme "Building Bridges " connecting our Past, Present and Future. The Conference will address current and future issues associated with the capture, integration and dissemination of health information. The Conference aims to embrace the solid foundations which have been laid in the past, tackle the issues currently facing health information professionals whilst showcasing innovation and best practice. Our keynote speakers will address current and topical areas relevant to the health information arena such as electronic health records, privacy, legal implications of technology changes, consumer consent, standards development, workforce issues, and the challenges of integrating IM and IT. A new addition this year includes the recently announced iSOFT iNNOVATION Awards which will celebrate innovative projects undertaken by HIMs. There is also the Cerner Student Poster competition and presentation. In line with the theme of "building bridges", HIMAA 2003 Conference delegates will also attend Day 1 of HIC 2003 as part of their HIMAA registration. Reduced registration fees have been negotiated for delegates who wish to attend both conferences. Of course no Conference is complete without the social events, where you can catch up with old friends and make new ones. In addition to the Welcome Reception (Cocktail Party) we are planning a Harbour Bridge Climb, a night at the Footy, a gala lunch in the ballroom. As the Conference is spanning a weekend, we have organised a program for partners and family members accompanying delegates. Why not bring the whole family along for a holiday or a well deserved long weekend? We look forward to seeing you in Sydney in August this year. Check out the Conference website for further information and on-line registration.
